Petrobras CEO sees 'excellent opportunity' in new subsalt deal

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 24 (Reuters) - The chief executive of Brazil’s state-led oil company Petrobras dismissed investors’ concerns about a new offshore production-sharing deal with the government on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Maria das Graças Foster called the four new contracts in the so-called subsalt areas an “excellent opportunity.”

Petrobras shares fell as much as 4 percent in Sao Paulo trading on concerns the government was over-stretching debt-strapped Petrobras’ resources in order to generate revenue for public accounts. (Reporting by Marta Nogueira; Writing by Brad Haynes; Editing by Chris Reese)
