Argentine trade surplus unexpectedly shrinks in March

BUENOS AIRES, April 21 (Reuters) - Argentina's trade surplus unexpectedly narrowed 32.8 percent in March from the same month a year earlier to $43 million, the government said on Tuesday.

The median forecast in a Reuters poll of analysts was for a surplus of $100 million.

President Cristina Fernandez's government relies on the surplus to boost dollar supplies on the tightly controlled currency market. (Reporting By Sarah Marsh; Editing by Alan Crosby)
