PUNTA DEL ESTE, Uruguay, April 9 (Reuters) - Argentina's crude oil output from the vast but barely-tapped Vaca Muerta shale formation increased to between 44,000 and 45,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), the chief executive of state-run YPF said on Thursday.
"This is the highest level of production from a non-conventional resource anywhere outside of the United States," YPF Chief Executive Officer Miguel Galuccio told an industry conference in Uruguay.
The figure compares with production of 41,000 bpd reported in late February. (Reporting by Hugh Bronstein and Malena Castaldi; Writing by Richard Lough)
