BRASILIA, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Brazil posted a trade surplus of $2.689 billion in August, government data showed on Tuesday, below market estimates for a surplus of $2.9 billion.
The country notched a trade surplus of $2.386 billion in July. Brazil's balance of trade has an accumulated surplus of $7.297 billion in the first eight months of the year as a weaker local currency bolsters exports and a shrinking economy weighs on imports. (Reporting by Marcela Ayres)
