Brazil to cancel fines for currency-hit solar, wind projects
SAO PAULO, June 30 (Reuters) - Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel said on Thursday it could cancel fines for companies who gave up on solar and wind power projects after a sharp currency swing made them unfeasible.
Still, companies will lose financial guarantees worth 10 percent of the projected investments, which were given to the government during licensing for the projects, Aneel director Tiago de Barros said. (Reporting by Luciano Costa; Writing by Marcelo Teixeira)
