BRASILIA, July 6 (Reuters) - Economists trimmed their
forecasts for Brazil's 2016 inflation rate to 5.45 percent from
5.50 percent previously, according to a weekly central bank
survey on Monday.
The new estimate is closer to the official target of 4.5
percent. The revision should be welcome by the central bank,
which has raised interest rates since October to keep inflation
expectations under control despite a recent surge in prices.
The median estimate of the about 100 economists
participating in the survey for the 2015 inflation rate rose to
9.04 percent from 9.00 percent previously.
