BRIEF-Amplats sees global platinum market to remain in deficit in short and medium term

* Summarised preliminary audited group financial results for the year ended 31 December 2014 and change to the board

* Operating profit 2013: Loss of R1.97bn versus 2014: R843m

* Total equivalent refined platinum production for 2014 was 1,842 koz, 21% lower compared to 2013

* Headline earnings FY 2014: r786m versus 2013: R1.45bn

* Further plans include optimising concentrators at union which is in process of being implemented

* Ian Botha has been appointed as incoming finance director and will commence his role on 1 May 2015

* Refined platinum production 2013: 2.38 moz versus 2014: 1.89 moz

* Despite short-term volatility in market, all indications suggests that platinum is in its strongest position since 2005

* Supply is unlikely to increase materially in next few years, and this could lead to an increase in price for platinum and palladium.

* Our objective is to exit union and Rustenburg mines in most appropriate manner, whether separately or together through either a sale or public market exit

* Expects global platinum market to remain in deficit in short and medium term

* Platinum is expected to return to baseline production (equivalent refined and refined production) and sales of 2.3 to 2.4 million platinum ounces in 2015
