Endesa Chile says suspending development of Punta Alcalde power project
SANTIAGO Jan 29 (Reuters) - Endesa Chile said on Thursday it was suspending the development of its Punta Alcalde coal-fired power project and its associated transmission line.
The decision to halt the 740-megawatt project comes as the company "tries to dispel uncertainty regarding its profitability," Endesa said in a statement.
Endesa, which generates and distributes electricity in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru, is controlled by energy firm Enersis, the Italian utility Enel's Latin American unit. (Reporting by Anthony Esposito; Editing by Chris Reese)
