Venezuela heavy oil upgraders' maintenance in 2015-2016
By Deisy Buitrago MARACAIBO, Venezuela, June 17 (Reuters) - Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA plans to put three upgraders under maintenance this year and next, a senior executive said on Wednesday. "At the moment, the upgraders are at maximum operating capacity," said Pedro Leon, head of PDVSA's Orinoco Belt operations, on the sidelines of an oil conference in Maracaibo. The upgraders in the Orinoco region, which holds most of Venezuela's reserves, are processing 830,000 barrels-per-day turning heavy crude into lighter grades for export, Leon said. The mixing plant at the Sinovensa joint venture with China's CNPC will also go under maintenance in August, he said. The roughly 190,000 barrel-per-day Petrocedeno upgrader, operated by France's Total and Norway's Statoil, was under maintenance between December 2014 and January 2015, added Leon.
