Peru's select stock index up more than 5 pct

LIMA Aug 27 (Reuters) - Peru's select stock index rose by more than 5 percent on Thursday as metal prices and global markets rebounded on U.S. growth data and fresh signs a September rate hike by the Federal Reserve was unlikely.

The mining-heavy index, Peru's most liquid, rose 5.24 percent to 14,175.75 points at 12:40 local time (1740 GMT). The general index rose 4.84 percent to 10,242.94 points. (Reporting by Teresa Cespedes)
