HOUSTON Nov 16 (Reuters) - Venezuela's state-run oil firm PDVSA awarded to London-based trading firm Helsinge Inc a tender to buy a 1 million-barrel cargo of Nigeria's Qua Iboe light crude for December delivery, traders told Reuters on Monday.

The company has been importing African and Russian crudes for refining this year through supply contracts and on the open market, which allows it to free its own production of light and medium grades for blending and exports.

The Qua Iboe cargo will be delivered on Dec. 1-20 at PDVSA's Bullenbay terminal in the Caribbean island of Curacao, according to the tender's terms.

A previous tender launched by PDVSA in October for a Bonny Light crude cargo was recently awarded to French Total .

Shell, Statoil and Rosneft have also sold crude to the Venezuelan firm this year. It has received at least 13 cargoes, 700,000-1 million barrels each, during 2015 at its terminals in Curacao.
