SANTIAGO, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Power generator Endesa Chile said on Tuesday that it has withdrawn the environmental impact study for its 490 megawatt Neltume hydro-electric power project and will rework it.
Endesa Chile, controlled indirectly by Italy's Enel , said it will rejig the project's design to take into account local communities' concerns about its impact on the environment.
Endesa Chile previously withdrew Neltume's environmental impact study in April 2010 to make changes.
The generator said it "has decided to explore new design alternatives, especially concerning the discharge of water to Neltume lake, an issue which has been raised by the communities." (Reporting by Anthony Esposito; Editing by Andrew Hay)
