Petrobras to resume some work at Comperj, Abreu e Lima refineries
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 22 (Reuters) - Brazil's state-led oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA plans to resume some work on the halted Comperj refinery near Rio de Janeiro and the partly finished Abreu e Lima, or RNEST refinery near Recife, O Globo newspaper said on its Web site on Friday.
The decision to restart work on a natural gas processing unit linked to a nearby pipeline and offshore resources and water, energy and industrial gasses at Comperj was approved by the board of directors, Globo said in its Lauro Jardim column.
Petrobras stopped work at the two refineries, two of the most expensive ever built, after soaring debt and falling oil prices crimped cash needed to complete them and a corruption scandal uncovered widespread graft in their construction. (Reporting by Jeb Blount; Editing by Andrew Hay)
