RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Brazil's oil and natural gas output rose 6.2 percent in July compared with a year earlier as production ramped up at new large oilfields south of Rio de Janeiro and the country posted its second-straight record month of output.

A total of 44 companies produced 3.26 million barrels of oil and equivalent natural gas per day (boepd) in the month compared with 3.07 million boepd a year earlier, Brazil's petroleum industry regulator ANP said in a statement on Friday.

Production was 1.4 percent higher than the 3.21 boepd produced in June, the previous record.

State-controlled Petroleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras, remained the largest producer, accounting for 2.62 million boepd, or 81 percent of output in July.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc was the No. 2 producer with 292,712 boepd, or 9 percent of Brazil's output.

Repsol Sinopec, a joint venture between Spain's Repsol SA and China's Sinopec, was the No. 3 producer with an average 75,181 boepd of output in July, or 2.3 percent of total production. Repsol Sinopec is controlled by Repsol. (Reporting by Jeb Blount; Editing by Tom Brown)
