Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras took delivery on Wednesday of its first long-haul airliner to be used on new routes to the United States.
The Airbus A330-200 is the first of six to be delivered to the privately held carrier, which aims to begin flights to the U.S. by December, according to a press statement.
In addition to the A330s, Azul will begin to take delivery of five Airbus A350-900 wide body airliners in March, 2017, the company said.
Together the planes are worth close to $2 billion at list prices, executives said earlier this year.
