Brazilian state-run electricity-utility holding company Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA, or Eletrobras, said on Tuesday that its board had approved the purchase of 3.23 million preferred shares of Cia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista, or CTEEP, for 81.6 million reais, or 25.04 reais a share.

The purchase was part of a capital increase plan for CTEEP, which operates power-transmission lines in 16 Brazilian states and is controlled by Bogota-based Colombian utility Interconexion Electrica SA, or ISA.
