Colombia's Ecopetrol makes first sale of crude to S. Korea
BOGOTA Oct 20 (Reuters) - Colombia's state-controlled oil producer Ecopetrol will ship 1 million barrels of crude oil to refiner Hyundai Oilbank Co, marking its first ever sale to South Korea and consolidating its presence in the Asian market, the company said on Monday.
Ecopetrol said the refiner expressed an interest in making further direct purchases in the future, which would help Ecopetrol consolidate its presence in Asia where 43 percent of its exports were sold in the first half of 2014.
Hyundai Oilbank has a refinery with capacity to process 390,000 barrels of heavy crudes like the Castilla kind which it Ecopetrol will supply it with. (Reporting by Peter Murphy; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
