Metalworkers at Brazilian planemaker Embraer SA began a 24-hour work stoppage over salary demands on Tuesday, the day the company officially debuts its KC-390 cargo plane.

The approximately 7,000 workers are demanding a salary adjustment of at least 10 percent, according to a statement from the Metalworkers Union of Sao Jose dos Campos and Vicinity, where Embraer’s biggest factory is located.

The company has offered a 6.6 percent raise, the union said.
