BRIEF-Portugal's EDP electricity distribution in Iberia down 0.9 pct in Q1

April 22 (Reuters) - EDP Energias de Portugal SA :

* Reported on Thursday Q1 total generation output up 27 percent year-on-year, driven by higher hydro resources in Iberia, higher wind generation prompted by capacity additions and better realized load factors, and thermal generation in Brazil after full consolidation of Pecem coal plant

* Hydro and wind accounted for 74 percent of the Q1 output

* Says installed capacity up 9 percent year-on-year to 24.5 GW in March 2016

* Q1 electricity distribution in Portugal and Spain down 0.9 percent at 15,140 GWh year-on-year

* Q1 gas distribution in Portugal and Spain down 12 percent at 9,566 GWh year-on-year

* Q1 electricity distribution in Brazil down 7.5 percent at 6,255 GWh year-on-year
