HELSINKI, April 29 (Reuters) - UPM-Kymmene’s chief executive, asked whether the company was mulling new pulp plant projects, said there was room for additional pulp mill in Uruguay.
Chief executive Jussi Pesonen, speaking to analysts on a conference call on Tuesday, declined to comment on a media report that suggested the Finnish company was considering to build its second pulp plant in Uruguay, but said it was eyeing all kind of options.
“Obviously, there is room for additional new pulp mill in Uruguay.... But we are considering all kinds of options in the world,” Pesonen said.
UPM’s Finnish rival Stora Enso has recently finalised its new joint venture eucalyptus pulp plant in Uruguay but is still waiting for its final permits. (Reporting By Jussi Rosendahl)
