Vale says Mozambique coal strike over

MAPUTO, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Workers at Vale’s Moatize coal mine in Mozambique have returned to work after ending a strike over bonus payments, the company said on Wednesday.

A company spokesman said the 1,400 workers, who downed tools just over a week ago, ended the strike on Friday.

Vale has said none of its employees worldwide was paid a bonus because the company didn’t achieve the required financial performance last year due to depressed commodity prices. (Reporting by Manuel Mucari; Writing by Ed Stoddard; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
