PARIS, Aug 10 (Reuters) - The Bank of France put its estimate for third-quarter growth in the French economy at 0.3 percent on Monday, citing a slight increase in industrial production and an improvement in the services sector.
“The agri-food and pharmaceuticals sectors posted a rise while the chemicals, automotive and machinery and equipment manufacturing sectors declined (in July),” the central bank said.
“Activity in the services sector improved, in particular in transport, temporary work, consulting and IT activities,” the bank added.
Business leaders expect industrial production to remain stable in August and see a slight increase in services sector activity, according to the bank.
The commentary was part of a monthly survey that the central bank publishes. It said an index it produces to show trends in business confidence was at 98 in the manufacturing sector and 96 in the services sector last month, unchanged from June. (Reporting by James Regan; Editing by Leila Abboud)
