Russia's Gazprom halts gas supplies to Ukraine
MOSCOW, July 1 (Reuters) - Russian state gas company Gazprom halted natural gas supplies to Ukraine on Wednesday because Kiev has not paid its bills, Chief Executive Alexei Miller said in a statement.
"Gazprom will not supply Ukraine under any gas price if there is no prepayment," Miller said.
Talks in Vienna on Tuesday between Russia, Ukraine and the European Commision failed to secure an agreement on terms for new gas supplies to Kiev, which asked for a bigger discount than Gazprom offered.
