Chile central bank considered 50 bp rate cut in March

SANTIAGO, March 31 (Reuters) - Chile’s central bank board considered both a 25 basis point and 50 basis point cut to the benchmark interest rate at its March meeting, but ultimately unanimously voted for the former, minutes of the meeting showed on Friday.

As had been widely forecast, the bank cut the rate to 3.0 percent on March 16, and indicated in its bias that more stimulus could be needed. (Reporting by Rosalba O‘Brien; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
