Heavy rains in northern Chile hit some copper operations

SANTIAGO, June 7 (Reuters) - Copper mines in Chile’s main mining region of Antofagasta have been affected by heavy rains that lashed the desert area overnight and into Wednesday, companies told Reuters.

Codelco said mining activities at its flagship Chuquicamata deposit and at nearby Radomiro Tomic and Ministro Hales had been suspended as a precaution, while Antofagasta said Centinela and Zaldivar had suffered intermittent interruptions.
