Mexico's cenbank holds rate steady, still wary on inflation

MEXICO CITY, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Mexico’s central bank held its main interest rate steady on Thursday, but said it would maintain a “prudent” policy stance and remained wary in case peso volatility fans inflation pressures.

In its first decision since national elections last month, the Bank of Mexico left its benchmark rate unchanged at an over nine-year high of 7.75 percent, as expected by 15 of 19 analysts polled by Reuters. (Reporting by Michael O’Boyle, Editing by Daina Beth Solomon)
