EDP Brasil eying higher stakes at plants where it partners Eletrobras

SAO PAULO, July 27 (Reuters) - Power company EDP Energias do Brasil SA on Thursday said it has informed Brazil’s state-controlled power holding company Eletrobras that it has interest in increasing stakes in power projects where the two companies are partners.

Miguel Setas, chief executive of the company controlled by EDP Energias de Portugal SA, said during an earnings presentation that the firm could buy stakes currently held by Eletrobras in some hydroelectric projects where both companies hold shares.
