Argentina says trade deficit widened to $789 million in July

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Argentina posted a trade deficit of $789 million in July, government statistics agency Indec said on Wednesday, compared with a deficit of $359 million in June and a deficit of $748 million in July 2017.

Exports rose 1.7 percent year-over-year to $5.4 billion, while imports rose 2.2 percent to $6.2 billion. For the first seven months of the year, the South American country’s cumulative trade deficit was $5.9 billion, Indec said, up from $3.4 billion in the same period last year.
