MEXICO CITY, Nov 15 (Reuters) - The yield on one-month Mexican T-bills, or Cetes, jumped in the central bank’s weekly auction on Tuesday, suggesting investors are betting on a bigger hike than economists expect this week.
The yield on the 28-day Cetes rose 75 basis points to 5.56 percent, the central bank said, ahead of a policy announcement on Thursday.
A Reuters poll on Monday projected the central bank will raise its main interest rate by half a percentage point to 5.25 percent, according to the median view of 15 analysts.
A trader said some market players were betting on an increase of 100 basis points. (Reporting by Noe Torres; Editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
