LIMA, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Peru’s consumer price index rose 0.33 percent in December and 3.23 percent in 2016, official data showed Sunday.
Both numbers were essentially in line with Reuters polls that had forecast a 0.33 percent rise in consumer prices in December and 3.24 percent for the full year.
The central bank, which has left the benchmark interest rate unchanged at 4.25 percent for the past 10 months, forecast inflation at 3.3 percent in 2016 and 2.3 percent in 2017. The bank has an inflation tolerance range of 1 percent to 3 percent.
