Argentina's Transener weighs $500 mln debt sale

BUENOS AIRES, April 26 (Reuters) - Argentine electricity distributor Transener SA is weighing the sale of $500 million in debt in domestic and foreign markets, the company said on Wednesday in a letter to the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange.

In the letter, Transener President Jorge Lapena said the debt sale could help fund future investments and re-finance existing liabilities.

With a market capitalization of $371 million, Transener’s shares make up 3.76 percent of Argentina’s leading Merval stock index. (Reporting by Walter Bianchi; Writing by Luc Cohen; Editing by Andrea Ricci)
