STXNEWS LATAM-Petrobras' June oil output rises 1.7 pct, tops 2 mln barrels

Oil output at Petróleo Brasileiro SA rose 1.7 percent in June as new offshore rigs began operations and platforms that were under maintenance resumed work.

In a statement, the state-controlled company commonly known as Petrobras, said production of crude oil reached 2.01 million barrels a day last month. Adding natural gas production, Petrobras’ production reached 2.43 million boed, up 1.2 percent from May.

According to the statement, output from the P-62 platform and wells linked to the P-48 rig began operations, while the P-51 rig resumed production. The company expects the P-61 platform to start work before year-end.

An index gauging Petrobras’ production efficiency hit the highest level in 50 months in June, reaching 91.6 percent thanks to increased efforts to improve efficiency in exploration and production at the company’s offshore and onshore fields. (Editing by Lisa Shumaker)
