Peru inflation up 0.02 pct in May; approaches annual target

LIMA, June 1 (Reuters) - Peru’s consumer price index rose 0.02 percent in May from a month earlier as food prices held steady while housing, fuel and electricity prices fell, state statistics agency Inei said on Friday.

The 12-month inflation rate rose to 0.93 percent, however, nearly inside the central bank’s 1 to 3 percent annual target. (Reporting by Mitra Taj; Writing by Caroline Stauffer; Editing by Kim Coghill)
