S.Korea's EWP buys 420,000 T of coal for June-August

SEOUL, April 3 (Reuters) - Korea East West Power Co Ltd
(EWP) bought a combined 420,000 tonnes of coal via a tender that
closed on Thursday, a source from the utility said on Monday.
EWP purchased 140,000 tonnes of Colombian-origin coal for
June loading at around $68 a tonne on a free-on-board (FOB)
basis, the source said.
The utility bought two 140,000-tonne coal products from
Russia for arrival in July and August, according to the source.
The price of the coal cargo was at around $86 per tonne on a
cost-and-freight (CFR) basis and at nearly $79 per tonne on a
FOB basis respectively.
The source added the utility originally planned to buy a
total of 700,000 tonnes of coal, however, it canceled to buy
280,000 tonnes of South African coal due to high prices.
