LISBON, May 29 (Reuters) - Portugal’s largest builder, Mota-Engil, posted on Thursday a 33 percent rise in first-quarter net profit, boosted by growing sales in Africa and Latin America.
Mota’s foreign business reached more than 68 percent of revenues as sales growth in Africa jumped 33 percent and rose 18 in Latin America.
Net profit reached 7.3 million euros while overall revenues rose 3.5 percent to 488 million euros.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 22 percent to 76 million euros.
Mota’s order book reached 3.9 billion euros at the end of the first quarter, of which 81 percent was in overseas markets.
Shares in Mota closed flat at 5.095 euros a share before the release of the results. (Reporting By Axel Bugge)
