(*)The government will fall short of its privatisation target this year, la Repubblica reported. The government had aimed to raise about 0.5 percent of GDP, or 8 billion euros, but will end up with revenue of almost 5 billion euros, mainly due to the decision to postpone the sale of up to 40 percent of state rail company, Ferrovie dello Stato, the newspaper said.

(*) Italy must raise revenue or cut spending by 30 billion euros in next year’s budget, up from an initially estimated 20-25 billion euros, La Stampa reported.

Low-cost airline Ryanair said on Wednesday it had reversed a decision to cut back operations in Italy and would instead invest a billion dollars in the country in 2017 after the government froze plans to hike passenger departure taxes.

The insurer could drop out of the EuroStoxx50 index at the end of the month, both La Stampa and la Repubblica reported, quoting a report by Societe Generale.

(*)ENEL

European renewable energy companies were among the biggest winners in a massive energy auction to supply Chile with power for two decades from the 2020s, the country’s Energy Ministry said on Wednesday. The Italian utility’s local arm Enersis was one of the successful bidders.

“Enel is now well positioned to expand its leadership in efficient and sustainable power generation in Chile,” said Francesco Starace, the chief executive of Enel, which won the most overall capacity, securing nearly 6,000 gigawatt hours.

France’s Vivendi is examining a new alternative offer for Mediaset’s pay-TV unit Premium and it could present it by the end of the month, il Sole 24 Ore reported. Investment bank Mediobanca could have a role as mediator between the French group and the Italian broadcaster.
