Anglo American reports 6 percent rise in Q2 output

LONDON, July 19 (Reuters) - Anglo American on Thursday reported a 6 percent increase in total output on a copper equivalent basis in the second quarter compared with a year earlier, excluding disruption following a leak at the Minas-Rio iron ore project in Brazil.

CEO Mark Cutifani said copper and coking coal had driven the increase.

Copper production rose 12 percent, while coking coal rose 33 percent, although thermal coal slipped one percent compared with a year earlier, Anglo American said. (Reporting by Barbara Lewis; editing by Jason Neely)
