Peru central bank sees 2nd qtr growth around 2.1 pct

LIMA, June 9 (Reuters) - Peru’s central bank said Friday that gross domestic product growth in the second quarter would be similar to the 2.1 percent year-on-year expansion recorded in the first quarter.

The economy of the metals exporter would likely have grown in April at levels similar to that of February and March, it said, when growth was around 0.7 percent.

“In May data should indicate a recovery although a low growth rate continues,” said Adrian Armas, the bank’s head of economic studies. (Reporting by Teresa Cespedes; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
