OSLO, April 1 (Reuters) - Loadings of alumina out of Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte plant in Brazil have been suspedended after local authorities suspended the environmental operational license of the plant’s port, the Norwegian company said on Tuesday.
“This results in the suspension of all loadings of alumina with immediate effect,” the firm said in a statement. “The production of alumina continues unaffected.”
Alunorte is the world’s largest alumina refinery with a nameplate capacity of 6.3 million tonnes. (Reporting by Gwladys Fouche, editing by Terje Solsvik)
