JBS beef plant ordered shut over outbreak of COVID-19, court rules

SAO PAULO, June 10 (Reuters) - A Brazilian court has ordered JBS SA to shut the production line of a beef plant in the state of Rondônia pending implementation of measures to stem an outbreak of the novel coronavirus at the facility, which employs 900 people.

State labor prosecutors who have sought to keep the plant closed until strict testing protocols are in place have said that more than 60% of the people infected in the town of São Miguel do Guaporé, where the plant is located, are employed by JBS. (Reporting by Ana Mano Editing by Chris Reese)
