Brazil presidential decree to overhaul mining rules next week -sources

BRASILIA, June 6 (Reuters) - Brazil’s President Michel Temer plans to issue a decree next week to overhaul the rules for mining permits, bypassing Congress after it failed to approve similar changes last year, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

The sources, who asked not to be named because the decree had not been made public, said it aims to cut red tape and attract investment to the mining sector, where permits to open new mines can sometimes take a decade or more to obtain. Presidential press representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. (Reporting by Jake Spring, editing by G Crosse)
