Brazil suspends beef exports to China after mad cow case -exporter

SAO PAULO, June 3 (Reuters) - A representative of a leading Brazil-based beef exporter confirmed on Monday that the country’s agriculture ministry has suspended beef exports to China after a case of mad cow was reported in the state of Mato Grosso.

The representative, who was not authorized to speak to the media, said beef exporters were formally told by the government that issuance of international health certificates was suspended as of Monday morning to comply with provisions of a bilateral agreement between the two countries. The agriculture ministry did not immediately reply to a request seeking comment. (Reporting by Ana Mano; Editing by Dan Grebler)
